Built a trucking company. Sold it. Now on a bank board, a horse, and occasionally a frozen lake. Bend, OR. Québec forever.

Rouleur and I did 50 miles at the Oregon 100 fun ride yesterday. Vet check: 'horse is fine, rider is suspect.' Trucking taught me pace. The horse taught me patience. The vet taught me humility.

Monday 9 a.m. question has rejected two changes this year. Both engineers said the changes were 'probably fine'. I ran 340 trucks. 'Probably fine' put 61 of them in Nevada.

Dispatch (the collie) has learned to open the tack-room door. Dispatch (the 2011 software) never learned anything. The dog is the better investment.

Visited the Cascade yard in Bend. Six years since the sale; headquarters still here, 300 of the 900 still on the payroll I knew. That was the condition. Conditions matter.

Cassoulet is a winter dish. Board members asking about an August cassoulet will be served a salad and a lecture.

Ice auger goes back in the truck December 1. Nordic skating conditions in the Cascades arrive maybe four days a year. I have missed two of the four, twice. This is also a logistics problem.
